Children’s Museum Houston Launches New Website

Enlists Poetic to infuse reason and rhyme into the new design in celebration of the 40-year anniversary

Children’s Museum Houston is turning 40!  To commemorate this milestone, Poetic Digital was brought in to redesign its website and turn a new page on the Museum’s digital direction while staying true to its original “A Playground for Your Mind™” concept.

“On our 40th year, Children’s Museum Houston is excited to update our digital landscape to better connect to the families we serve through our all-new website,” said Children’s Museum Houston Executive Director Tammie Kahn.  “With programs which change weekly and range from making slime to seeing your brain activity while playing Minecraft, we want our visitors to discover things and events on our website as they do when they walk through our doors.”

The redesigned website, was developed with visitors’ interests in mind, including ease of navigation and mobile responsiveness.  It was also strategically designed with the intention of boosting membership, CityPASS, online ticket sales and fundraising.

“We were very excited to work collaboratively with Children’s Museum Houston’s talented and passionate team.  We took a strategic, data-driven approach, allowing Children’s Museum to further their impact. The new design allows diverse audiences to more deeply benefit from and engage in their museum experiences. Visually, we brought all these pieces together with the playful yet bold look of Children’s Museum Houston brand,” said Poetic’s President, Sean Haynes.

Last year alone, the Museum’s website received more than 2.4-million pageviews by more than 600,000 users combined, including international visitors from Mexico, India, Canada, U.K., China, Australia, Philippines, Brazil, and Japan.  The Museum looks forward to seeing these numbers increase as it encompasses these key attributes:

  • Want to see what’s new today?
  • Want to be the first to find out about what can’t be missed this week?
  • Looking for something fun to do this weekend?
  • Looking for a special gift, like a membership, which will last all year long?
  • Are there easy ways to save on Houston attractions, like CityPASS?
  • How can I contribute to Houston’s children’s future?

“Our website is our window to the world,” said Kahn.  “This is what people see first before they make it to the Museum.  We want to make sure we deliver on the online experience the way it’s done so brilliantly onsite.”
